Phone Calls in India Are About to Get a Lot Smarter
In a groundbreaking move, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is introducing a new feature that will change the way you answer your phone. Soon, you’ll know the name of the person calling you, even if their number isn’t saved in your contacts.
How Will This Work?
- This feature, called Caller Name Presentation (CNAP), will display the caller’s registered name alongside their phone number on your screen.
- Telecom providers will use the name the caller provided on their Customer Application Form (CAF) when they signed up for their phone service.
Benefits of CNAP
- Say Goodbye to Spam: CNAP aims to significantly reduce the annoyance of spam calls. You’ll be able to easily identify and ignore those pesky telemarketing calls.
- Informed Decisions: Knowing who’s calling allows you to make informed choices about whether or not to answer, improving your overall phone experience.
- Enhanced Security: CNAP could potentially aid in identifying fraudulent calls, adding a layer of security.
Get ready for a new era in phone calls, where the mystery of unknown numbers is a thing of the past!
